Our Mission

The Gottlieb Naef Foundation (GNS), based in Switzerland, exists to support the growth of individuals and communities by financing education and skills development worldwide, particularly among the rural poor. We believe in fostering long-term sustainability through both financial support and strategic guidance. In addition to funding, we provide in-kind donations, advisory services, and leverage our global network to connect organizations with governments, companies, and other resources to solve pressing challenges.

How We Work

At GNS, we go beyond financial support. While funding is critical, our approach ensures that recipients receive strategic guidance, mentorship, and access to global networks that help them succeed. We provide:

Advisory Services: We actively engage with our partner organizations, offering strategic direction, governance support, and operational advice tailored to their specific needs.

Global Connections: Leveraging our extensive network, we introduce organizations to key stakeholders, including governments, investors, and other NGOs, to create collaborative opportunities and unlock further funding.

In-Kind Support: Where possible, we offer direct material support, such as equipment, training resources, and logistical assistance to enhance program effectiveness.

Long-Term Partnership: Rather than short-term donations, we cultivate enduring relationships with our partners, ensuring they have the resources and guidance to achieve lasting impact.

Our Focus

At GNS, we place a strong emphasis on education and skill training, particularly for young people living on the land. As food security and resource management become national concerns, it is critical that young people—whether from wealthy or disadvantaged backgrounds—develop a tangible understanding of their natural resources, how to value them, negotiate with them, and sustain them. Beyond economic value, land has tremendous cultural and psychological value, and is integral to the human experience. This is why GNS is committed to supporting training initiatives that equip individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to manage resources effectively and ensure a more sustainable future.

Who Can Apply for Funding?

GNS provides funding to organizations that run education or skill training programs for youth and young adults. We prioritize initiatives that go beyond basic education, focusing on programs that give young people a deep understanding of their resources, capabilities, and rights.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Programs must be centered on education or skill training, with a focus on long-term impact.

  • Organizations should provide youth with tangible knowledge about resource management, economic independence, and civic engagement.

  • Preference is given to initiatives that help young people develop a connection to their environment and equip them with practical skills for sustainable livelihoods.

  • We welcome applications from both grassroots organizations and larger institutions that are committed to fostering sustainable development and community empowerment.

If you believe your program aligns with our mission, we encourage you to apply. For more information on the application process, please contact us.
